Yoko Ono is home from hospital

Yoko Ono has been released from a New York City hospital after being treated for the flu, her representative said Saturday.

Elliott Mintz said earlier that the 83-year-old artist-singer went to the hospital Friday night on the advice of her doctor after having flu-like symptoms.

Sean Ono Lennon said on Twitter Saturday that his mother was “running about as usual” after getting home. He says he may now go get a flu shot.

Yoko Ono is the widow of John Lennon of the Beatles.

TV host refuses to do show

The future of Melissa Harris-Perry’s MSNBC talk show is in doubt after the host declared she would not appear this weekend in response to several weeks of its pre-emption by the network.

Harris-Perry focuses on race, gender and politics on the discussion show, which she has hosted since 2012. The show, Melissa Harris-Perry, is regularly scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays and Sundays. It did not air in February.

“Our show was taken — without comment or discussion or notice — in the midst of an election season,” Harris-Perry said in an email to her staff.

Memorial set for beauty queen

A memorial service will be held next month for a former Miss America contestant who died from injuries suffered in a car crash on a wet New Jersey highway.

The Miss New Jersey Education Foundation is hosting the March 12 service for Cara McCollum at the Ocean City Tabernacle.

The 24-year-old Arkansas native won the 2013 Miss New Jersey pageant. Her funeral is Sunday.
