Fun at the zoo

The Akron Zoo is hosting a Princess and Pirate Day on Saturday. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite princess or pirate outfit and participate in a treasure hunt and themed bingo. From 1 to 3 p.m., guests can meet a “real” princess and pirate. Zoo admission is $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $9 for children ages 2-14. Children under 2 are free and parking is $3. Pokémon hunt

There will be a Ready, Set, Pokémon Go! hunt Saturday at the Weathervane Playhouse at 1301 Weathervane Lane in Akron. The hunt is free. Weathervane will unleash Lures for players starting at 10 a.m. There will be Pokémon Go-related activities for an additional cost. Akron marks the Fourth

Akron’s Rib, White & Blue National Rib Festival opens Friday and runs through the Fourth of July. The event is held in downtown Akron near Lock 3 Park. Admission is free. Wednesday at 7 p.m., check out Flashbang — the 122nd Army Band’s rock band — and at 8 p.m. a performance by the 122nd Army National Guard Band. Fireworks will start at 9:45 p.m. Parking is free after 6 p.m. on Fridays and weekends at all city-owned parking decks and lots.

Horse show

The Summit County Fairgrounds will host the Inter State Triple Point horse show Saturday through Sunday. The fairgrounds are off East Howe Road in Tallmadge.
