The history of the local restaurants in our community is almost as vast as the city itself! However, none being more resilient than TJ’s Amber Restaurant on Canton Road.

As with most local independent family restaurants, TJ’s Amber has seen its share of ups and downs since the merger of 2006. TJ’s Amber is the result of the Lindsay’s and Amber’s Family Restaurants, both independent competitors until the late 80’s and early 90’s. The restaurant’s new owner Jeff Gamsby, born and raised in the Township of Springfield and frequented each on Sunday’s as a child. Each offered great service, and great food at a reasonable cost and Gamsby has taken direct aim at bringing back the spirit of TJ’s Amber through fine tuning everything for the customer, one experience at a time and even expanding to an All Day breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu.

TJ’s Amber offers a traditional home cooked meal at its finest and the deep fried chicken is among the best around, with the “treat of the week” being their Sunday Special- 3 piece (Breast, Thigh, Leg) combo with 2 sides for only $7.25!

The restaurant is a combination of elegance, charm, good food, and attentive service with a capacity of 700 along with private rooms to accommodate large groups. It truly brings back the nostalgic pleasure of my own childhood to dine at an establishment that knows good food, and good service, with the trimmings of traditional value within the family dining experience where it’s a good thing to sit around and talk after a meal! The enthusiastic wait staff is attentive without being intrusive and really tries to “wow” the customer, which explains the reason 60-70% of TJ’s Amber clientele are regular’s. Jeff loves the fact that 5 of his 15 servers are from the original location. These are the people that know their customers, and Jeff’s passion for his customers is evident as he gives one of his regulars, Mary, her daily hug as she prepares to leave.

TJ’s Amber Restaurant’s customers are very happy about the kind of service they receive and rightfully so, as they boast treating Senior’s better than anyone else. Monday-Friday Seniors are given a 10% discount on their check and Jeff is looking to even expand Senior Appreciation Day up to 25% off. And for regulars such as Mary, orders in in usually before they even sit down in this traditional seat yourself diner.

Seniors are not the only people to have discovered the value in TJ’s Amber Restaurant, as it is a meeting destination for many local community groups such as the Chamber and Rotary. With deals like Wednesday and Friday-All You Can Eat Fish with 2 sides for $7.25 and a Saturday Night Surf & Turf-8 oz. Top Sirloin with a choice of cod, salmon, or jumbo shrimp for only $7.25, who can blame them! TJ’s Amber Restaurant also offers a banquet facility with full service catering on location. The restaurant is conveniently located five minutes from Interstate 77 and two minutes from Route 224. Show your support and stop in to see Jeff and his team at the Tri-County Plaza today!
