Help celebrate Akron Pride festival

Akron Pride kicks off with a march from 11 a.m. to noon, proceeding from Highland Square to Hardesty Park, where the festival will run from noon to 8 p.m. There will be food and beverages, a kids’ zone with lots of activities, and local and national entertainers including Martha Wash, Derrick Bary, Zach & the Bright Lights and the Angie Haze Project. Try some new wine at the Akron Zoo

The Akron Zoo’s “Wild for Wine” tasting will run 6 to 9 p.m. with six local wineries and food truck Square Scullery. Watch animals create paintings with their feet; you could win a chance to pick the colors and take a painting home. Cost is $45 for zoo members and $50 for nonmembers. Do some DIY activities in Hartville

Bring out your inner superhero

There will be a Lil Superheroes Family Event at Summit Mall on Saturday. The event, sponsored by Akron Children’s Hospital, will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the mall’s Center Court. There will be games, craft and appearances by costumed characters.

Check out collections of beer cans

Have you always wondered what those beer cans in the attic might be worth? The 47th annual CANvention — the largest beer collectibles show in the world — invites you to check out the wares of more than 500 collectors from 37 states and 13 countries at the Huntington Convention Center, 300 W. Lakeside Ave., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10. (You can’t bring your collection for sale or appraisal, but you can see what kinds of prices they’re getting.)
