Band adds some pop to polka at park

Jake Kouwe started the Chardon Polka Band in 2003 when he was an accordion-loving teenager, and it still oom-pah-pahs today, putting fresh twists on classics and giving pop tunes the polka treatment. Check them out at 7 p.m. at Hardesty Park in Akron. It’s free.

Local native goes from Broadway to big screen

Northeast Ohio native Corey Cott stars in the Broadway musical Bandstand, which will play big screens at 7 p.m. Monday and Thursday. Cott plays a soldier who returns home from World War II and enters a radio contest with his swing band of veterans.
