Q: When do you cut back lavender? Spring or fall?
— Janet Fritz,?Parma Heights
A: Daybreak Lavender Farm in Streetsboro says you can prune lavender plants either in fall, after the flowers have faded, or in early spring. Lavender benefits from fairly hard pruning, which keeps the plants from getting leggy and encourages flower production. Daybreak recommends cutting low-growing plants by a couple of inches or down to new growth, and pruning taller places by about one-third of their height.
