Fans of the old Art’s Place bean soup will be sad to learn that the Firehouse Grill & Pub, 2727 Manchester Road, Akron, which recently began serving the soup, has closed.

Manager Bill Taylor, whose mother and grandmother were the last owners of Art’s Place, resurrected the soup recipe this summer at the Firehouse in hopes of attracting additional customers to the restaurant.

Other Firehouse locations in the area are still open for business.

Samira, 2291 Riverfront Parkway, Cuyahoga Falls (formerly the River Brasserie and Grill, formerly LeFever’s) also has closed.

Owner Nick Dadich posted this on the restaurant’s Facebook page:

“We regret to announce that we have permanently closed the doors of Samira. We want to thank our Facebook fans and every customer we’ve had the pleasure to serve, as well as the great bands we’ve hosted here. We appreciate your support, and we’ll miss you all. Thanks for the great memories.”

Dadich took over the restaurant two years ago.
