The McKinley Room at the Canton Civic Center was transformed into a Paris street scene for Grape Possibilities Thursday evening. Doug Argabright of the Personal Touch used a Paris backdrop to create a Parisian bistro, where guests sampled fine wine from area vintners.

Henry Miles chaired the event for the Arc of Stark County, raising funds to support programs and services for people with developmental disabilities in Stark and surrounding counties

The evening began with a VIP Platinum Tasting. Frank and Debbie Gonzales sampled a sauvignon blanc from Heidelberg Distributing Co., while Andra Craig, Sarah Weisgarber and Brent Bellas recommended their great riesling. Also enjoying samples were Stark County Domestic Relations Judge Rosemarie Hall and her husband, Charlie; Fifth District Court of Appeals Judge Scott Gwin and his wife, Monica; and Tom and Bebe Bernabei. Tracy McDonald and Debbie Mottice sampled cheese served by Rick and Leeann Chievitz of Biery Cheese, and Bob Tucker poured wine from Esber Beverage Co.

Nancy Schindler and David Stein offered cranberry sangria from Swiss Heritage Winery, while Tim Bakan offered apple pie wine from Maize Valley Winery. Winemaker Andy Codispoti discussed wine with Frank Ranalli while his wife, Claudia, and Steve Yonkal served samples of Gervasiís chardonnay to Chad Chirillo, Colleen Hudic, Donna Hoover and Rick Rodger.

Dr. Tony Perry, president of the Arc, said he was happy to see the huge crowd, despite the bad weather, as he enjoyed the event with his wife, Kathy Catazaro-Perry, the mayor of Massillon; and David Beule, Joe and Georgia DiPietro, Guy Cecchini, Larry and Alice Page and Tim Case.

Dr. Mark and Susan Vogelgesang joined friends Les and Linda Radwany, Mike and Natalie Weinz, Craig and Mary Fruchey and Ed and Jan Wymyslo at the buffet provided by Creative Catering. Roxanne Korte and her son, Joel McDonald, said they enjoyed the cheese from Brewster Dairy.

Placing bids on the wine-themed silent auction items were Christi Ashton-?Poloha, Robin Green, Gary and Garie Daniska and Randy and Amy McGill. Raymond Wesley sold raffle tickets and Me and This Other Guy provided musical entertainment.

At a beautiful dessert table set with sparkling trees, Nancy Yost, Hannah Roan Francine Wuchnick and Dave Allen served key lime cheesecake and other desserts from Buehlerís Fresh Foods.

Mikki Nichols of Ravenís Glenn Winery served mango wine to Scarlet Raven, and Jim Devine of the Silver Moon Winery served a Razzle Dazzle wine to Carl and Lisa Boss.

Ron DeChellis introduced Rick and Vicki Haines. who were honored for their community service, and Executive Director Ron Klonowski recognized past honorees. One of the happiest people in the room was Denise Vargo, who won a Valentineís Day basket.
