People Helping People is a list of charitable causes in our area that need donations or volunteers. The Beacon Journal has not investigated these causes, so donors should verify their worthiness and the tax-deductibility of contributions.

Legends Foundation, 45 Clement Ave., Akron, OH 44319, assists with sporting and community events that include people with and without disabilities, and organizes talks by former professional athletes to encourage incarcerated youth to make good choices.

It is seeking business leaders to participate in county-supported job fairs. It also needs a volunteer WordPress webmaster.

Volunteer Guardian Program, 750 White Pond Drive, Akron, OH 44320, serve as caring advocates and surrogate decision makers for adults in Summit County who canít make informed, responsible decisions for themselves. Volunteer guardians do not have financial responsibility for the person but may have to coordinate community resources when needed.

Guardians must be at least 21 years old and have reliable transportation. They must complete an application and submit needed paperwork to the Summit County Probate Court, attend an interview, complete a background check and attend training.
