DAYTON, OHIO: Authorities say they’re looking for a caller who reported a fake case of Ebola that sent police, fire and hazardous materials crews to an apartment in Southwest Ohio.
The Dayton Daily News and WHIO-TV report Dayton police received a call Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. that someone in an apartment was sick with the virus and had just returned from Africa. Police and fire crews responded to the call, blocking off traffic from the area as a hazardous materials crew went in and out of the building.
Police say the person who was reportedly sick wasn’t in the apartment and was home at a different address. When police reached him, he said he hadn’t left the area and wasn’t showing any Ebola symptoms.
Authorities are seeking the caller and considering charges.
