The 21st annual Red & White on Thursday Night drew 750 people to Quaker Station for an evening of wine and food tasting.

Nancy Delnay and her daughter Denise Delnay co-chaired the benefit for the Arthritis Foundation, with Cleveland Clinic Akron General as presenting sponsor. Honorary chair was Dr. William Kurtz of Akron General Orthopedics, and special guest was 14-year-old Anna Faust, who recounted her battle with juvenile arthritis.

In the VIP Lounge, Andrew Codispoti, winemaker at Gervasi Vineyards recommended his Ciao Bella to accompany one of the entrees prepared by Gervasi chefs. Thom Mandel joined Joyce Lagios, Nancy Pavkov and Matt Pollard to sample.

Andrew Moore of Wine Trends poured samples for Keith and Cindy Sipos. Ron Cunningham of Rhinegeist Brewery recommended that Justin Starcher sample their new Cidergeist, a rose ale. “This is really good,” Starcher told his wife, Melody.

Lauren Burge liked the artichokes Joe Gallagher was serving from D’Agnese’s of White Pond; Nui Kaveervathimt and Katie D’Antonio served sushi from Cilantro Thai; Dave Sharp and Joshua Kielmare of DBA offered creamy Italian polenta; Kellie LeConte and Jessica Janicek served graham cracker cream pie from Melt; Erin Rohr offered her favorite chocolates; and Hannah Troyer served El Salvador coffee from Akron Coffee Roasters.

At the silent auction, Jean Kaminski admired a solid oak bar, while Melanie Sennett had her eye on the three-person hot tub. Also placing their bids were Dr. John and Barbie Dietrich and Nick and Diane Anthony.

Cheryl Walters and Alyssa Brown conducted the raffle of Gervasi wine, while RoseAnne Polasky passed out donation envelopes, offering the chance to win 10 times the amount they donated.

Bob Hale conducted the live auction where Rob Shriver had the top bid for a ride on the Goodyear blimp; and Scott and Michelle Vance celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary by winning the hot tub.

Executive Director Darby Bentoff Schwartz expected the event would raise more than $90,000 for the Arthritis Foundation.
