Unity Chapel of Light will celebrate the 20th anniversary at its Tallmadge location, 503 Northwest Ave., at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The church, which traces its roots to 1917, began in several homes in the Akron area. By 1952, the congregation, known as Unity Center of Truth, moved to 1075 W. Market St. (the mansion that was originally the home of Charles W. Seiberling). It remained there until 1992, when its current building was completed.
The anniversary service will include historical highlights. A picnic celebration will begin after the service. Guests are welcome to gather outdoors or in the air-?conditioned fellowship hall.
Unity Chapel of Light is considered a progressive Christian church that adheres to the practical application of the teachings of Jesus. It welcomes people from all belief systems, lifestyles and backgrounds. The Unity movement began more than a century ago and is widely known for The Daily Word, an inspirational booklet found in hospitals, prisons, libraries and churches.
For information about the local church, call 330-928-2108 or visit www.unitychapel?oflight.org. Information about the movement can be found at www.unity.org.
