Police were investigating the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man inside a car in Akron.

The manís name had not been released publicly because his family had not been notified. He lived on Inman Street.

Police responded to a call of a shooting in the 300 block of Margaret Street, just east of state Route 8, about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Middlebury neighborhood.

There, officers found the man in the back seat of a Chrysler 300.

Other people who had been in the car told police they stopped in South Akron a few minutes before to talk to two males in the 1000 block of Herberich Avenue, which is about 1.3 miles from Margaret Street.

One of the two men pulled out a handgun and fired it into the Chrysler, striking the 18-year-old who was later pronounced dead at Summa Akron City Hospital, officials said.

After the shooting, the two males were seen running between houses on Herberich Avenue toward Lovers Lane.

The Summit County Medical Examinerís Office said it was conducting an autopsy Wednesday.
