Three Akron men were sentenced Friday to lengthy prison terms for the January robbery and slaying of 24-year-old Phillip Michael Anderson — the city’s first homicide victim of the year.

Rasheem Carr, 21, of Seiberling Street, was sentenced to 43 years in prison for aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.

Prosecutors identified Carr as the shooter.

Robert Davis, 21, of Princeton Street, was given a 15-year term for murder.

Demarcus Williams, 21, of Tandy Lane, was given 10 years for involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors said Anderson was with two friends in his car on Princeton Street on Jan. 10 when they were robbed by two armed men. Anderson was shot and killed during the robbery.

Prosecutors said Davis planned the robbery with Williams and Carr and drove Williams from the scene.

Williams testified against Carr and Davis at their trial.

Common Pleas Judge Alison McCarty handed down the sentences.
