A 31-year-old Akron firefighter is on paid administrative leave, accused of shooting a man who threw a brick at him during a fight over a woman.

The Beacon Journal/Ohio.com reported the incident earlier this week while police were still investigating and before charges were filed.

According to Akron police, events unfolded like this:

Enrique Green, who has been an Akron firefighter for six years, was visiting his girlfriend in East Akron about 4 a.m. Feb. 2.

The woman’s ex-boyfriend showed up at the house in the 700 block of McKinley Avenue and he and Green began arguing.

The ex-boyfriend threw a brick at Green, according to authorities.

Police said that Green, who has a concealed carry weapon permit, pulled out a gun and shot the man in the shoulder.

The injured man drove himself to Summa Akron City hospital, where he was treated and released.

Green has been charged with felonious assault. He is scheduled to appear in Akron Municipal Court on Saturday.
