An Akron man is wanted by police after a woman said he stole her purse during a struggle Friday night.

Darrelle Norwood, 24, has been charged with robbery. He has not been taken into custody.

A 32-year-old Tallmadge woman said Norwood confronted her outside a friend’s Safer Plaza residence about 9 p.m. Friday and demanded her car. Norwood was at the complex visiting a friend.

When she refused, he tried to take her purse. After dragging her through the parking lot, Norwood eventually took the purse and fled, police said.

The victim suffered injuries to her neck and face, police said. Her car keys were in her pocket, police said. Juveniles in the area recovered her wallet and gave it to police.
