An Akron manís ear was nearly severed after it was bitten by another man during a fight Friday night, police said.
The victim, 30, was treated for his injury at Summa St. Thomas Hospital. His attacker has been identified, but charges have not been filed.
Police contacted the victim at the hospital shortly after the incident, which the man said took place about 7:30 p.m. in the 100 block of South Maple Street.
The victim told police he felt threatened by the man and a fight ensued. During the altercation, the suspect bit the victimís ear, leaving it dangling from the manís head.
Police went to the area where the fight was said to have occurred, but found no evidence of the dispute, they said.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
