The Akron Fire Department and the Akron Police Department are partnering to host three open houses at fire stations.

Residents will be able to tour the station, talk with firefighter/medics, learn about smoke detectors and fire prevention, and see and touch fire safety equipment, including protective gear, extractor machines and thermal imaging cameras.

Police also will be on hand to demonstrate the city’s new body cameras, and talk to visitors about their safety equipment and free community programs.

Each open house will feature a “touch a truck” event for children. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

The open houses, which are all from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., are:

• Saturday at Fire Station No. 2, 952 E. Exchange St.

• Oct. 14 at Fire Station No. 12, 1852 W. Market St.

• Oct. 28 at Fire Station No. 6, 1685 S. Hawkins St.
