An Akron woman has been charged with fifth-degree theft from the disabled after being accused of misappropriating funds from the bank account of a woman with developmental disabilities.

Alicia N. Coon, 30, who handled the victim’s funds, was arrested Wednesday.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report in November about the theft and turned the investigation over to a sheriff’s detective assigned to the Summit County Developmental Disabilities agency.

Coon is accused of taking a little more than $900 for her own personal gain.
