An Akron woman was confronted in her kitchen by an armed intruder who tied her up with electrical cords and robbed her Wednesday afternoon.

The Coventry Street woman, 39, eventually freed herself and ran to a neighbor’s home. She was not injured.

The intruder has not been identified.

The victim said she was preparing lunch about 1 p.m. when a man forced open a door, tied her up and took her to a bedroom, where he threatened to kill her. The man then took her wallet, cell phone and the keys to her 2001 Ford Explorer.

The turquoise SUV, with license plate EQK 1214, has not been recovered.

Police say the burglar is black and in his early 30s. He had a buzz haircut, silver rimmed eyeglasses and a gray and light blue jacket.
