The Akron Police Department and State Highway Patrol will aggressively crack down on motorists who don’t wear their seat belts from now through June 5.

Memorial Day weekend signals the return of the “Click It or Ticket” program. The Akron Police Department and other law enforcement communities across the state will be looking for and ticketing unbuckled drivers and passengers in an effort to raise safety awareness and prevent fatalities.

The campaign is funded by the National Highway Safety Administration through the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.
