BATH TWP.: Bath Park Board and Serpentini Chevrolet will sponsor the first-ever Bath Steeplechase 8K Race and 2K Fun Run that will take place on Nov. 9 in the heart of Bath.

The 8K European-style, cross-country race will take runners on a manageable course through the Bath Nature Preserve where they will dodge obstacles such as the creek, hay bales, and logs. The 2K Family Fun Run will be a scaled-down version of the Steeplechase course and will take place in the Bath Community Activity Center. The 8K Race is limited to the first 400 runners while the 2K Fun Run will not have a limit on participants.

Race services will be provided by the Summit Athletic Running Club and will take place through the former Raymond Firestone estate.

Shuttle services will be provided to the start of both events at the Bath Community Activity Center, 1615 N. Cleveland-Massillon Road. Packet pick-up, 8K runner goodie bags, course previews and on-site registration (if available) will start at 10 a.m.  Runners for the 8K will take off at noon, while the 2K Fun Run will begin at 12:05 p.m. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

The cost for the 8K Steeplechase is $40 in advance, $50 the day of the race. Donation for the 2K Fun Run is $10 per participant.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Bath Parks.
