EASTLAKE, OHIO: A father and daughter have been rescued after their boat caught on fire on Lake Erie near Eastlake.

The Coast Guard said the man called for help using his marine radio Tuesday evening. He told authorities the exhaust system on his 33-foot cabin cruiser caught on fire. He also said the boat was taking on water.

Rescuers arrived about 20 minutes later. By that time, they said the man had already put out the fire and stopped the flooding.

Coast Guard officials tell WEWS-TV the man and his daughter, both from Mentor-On-The-Lake, were wearing life jackets.

Rescuers helped remove water from the boat before towing it to shore.
