CUYAHOGA FALLS:  City Council voted unanimously Monday to spend $500,000 to resurface Tallmadge Road during their meeting at the Natatorium.

Eighty percent of the total is from a state grant, meaning the city would be responsible for about $100,000.

City Engineer Tony Demasi said work, from Newberry Street to Clyde Avenue, will begin after school ends in June. It is expected be finished by the beginning of school in August.

The road is not expected to close during the construction, but traffic will be down to one lane.

Councilwoman Mary Ellen Pyke said she has worked with residents on Tallmadge Road, which runs through her district, and the administration for five years to have the road resurfaced. It wasn't until the grant came through that the project became a reality.

"The residents are going to be very pleased," she said.
