BATH TWP. - Trustee Elaina Goodrich announced May 21 that Bath Township received a $500 donation on May 15 from the Haslinger Family Foundation toward the cost of a Historical Marker at Ira Cemetery, located at the bottom of the Ira Road hill, adjacent to Hale Farm & Village.

The cemetery is the final resting place for many of the Hale, Hammond and Cranz family members, who were integral in founding and developing Bath Township. The proposed marker will recognize not only the heritage of the families but also that land for the cemetery was deeded to the township by Erwin Hammond in 1863 and by William Cranz and Othello Hale in 1879.

In addition to the Haslinger Family donation, $500 contributions have been made by the Heritage Corridors of Bath, the Bath Historical Society and the Bath Homeowners Association. The Bath Business Association funded $250 toward the $2,450 cost of the marker.

According to Goodrich, a dedication will be planned later in September, with a firm date and time to be announced.
