STOW: Mayor Sara Drew plans to put her problem solving skills to the test at the Mayors Challenge.

“I was very excited to be invited to participate in the Mayor’s Challenge,” Drew said.
The Mayors Challenge, sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies, is a competition to inspire American cities to generate innovative ideas that solve major challenges and improve city life.
Mayors from around the nation can share their ideas.
The competition creates an arena for Mayors to problem solve and find innovative solutions from coast to coast.
The idea is to have cities of more than 30,000 that wish to have their Mayors participate submit an idea, which frequents government, enhances transparency, increases participation or otherwise improves local government functioning, Drew said.
“If we are successful, the winning city will be awarded $5 million and the four runner-up cities will each be awarded $1 million,” Drew said.
Drew is working on submitting her entry application by the second week of September.
“I have RSVP that I will participate in the Mayor’s Challenge and wish me luck,” Drew said.
