FAIRLAWN: The city’s Planning Commission gave final approval Thursday night to the A. Schulman Co. to build its new corporate headquarters, which will remain in Fairlawn.

The polymer company is relocating its corporate building from 3550 W. Market St. to Fairlawn Corporate Park at Cleveland-Massillon and Ridgewood roads.

The new headquarters, expected to cost about $6.5 million, will be the cornerstone of the development.

Landridge Development of Fairlawn will construct the 34,000-square-foot building on 4.64 acres. A. Schulman will lease the building from Landridge and sell its current headquarters to the developer.

“We are very excited about this project and hope to move in by spring, if not sooner,” said Gary Miller, vice president of A. Schulman. “We are very proud to be in Fairlawn. ... This was a good option for us.”

Miller said the company needed the move to better accommodate its corporate staff.

The planners’ recommendation goes to council for final approval. That vote is expected July 17.
