FAIRLAWN: The city will host an open house Feb. 13 to gather public feedback on the upcoming widening project on South Cleveland Massillon Road.

The meeting is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in city council chambers at 3487 S. Smith Road.

The $12.9 million project — which dates to the 1980s — involves widening the congested, two-lane road between Bywood Avenue and Interstate 77 to four lanes and adding a center turn lane from Elgin Drive/Rosemont Boulevard to state Route 18.

It’s a stretch of 1.2 miles.

The construction also includes a new sidewalk, walking path, upgraded traffic signals and a roundabout at the Cleveland Massillon/Rothrock intersection.

The work is expected to begin in 2020.

The city will provide exhibits at the open house and workers will be there to answer questions and hear comments.

Comments will be accepted through March 16.
