Summit and Portage counties are under a flood warning to 9 tonight, after heavy thunderstorms rocked the Akron area.
From 1 to 2 inches of rain fell during the storms that also produced locally heavy winds and lightning, reported the U.S. Weather Service.
The Akron Fire Department said an apartment on Amber Hills Drive was on fire after being struck by lightning during the late afternoon storm. No further details were available.
Electric power was reported out in scattered areas and there was minor flooding from the storms, local officials reported.
