High water on the Cuyahoga River after heavy overmight rains has postponed work on removing a dam in Cuyahoga Falls.

The work on the Sheraton Mill Dam near Broad Boulevard has been delayed due to high water that threatens worker safety, officials said.

Workers had been slated today to begin making cuts in the dam to lower the water level in the pool behind the dam.

The city of Cuyahoga Falls has a $1 million grant from the Ohio Environmentgal Protection Agency to remove two dams to improve water quality in the Cuyahoga River.

The other dam to be removed is the LaFever Powerhouse Dam.

Both dams are slated to be removed by early to mid August.
