Home Depot has come on board in support of the new Malson Athletic Center in Hudson.

The company has agreed to provide approximately $25,000 toward the purchase of construction and other materials for the facility, the school district announced Friday.

Hudson City Schools' Business Manager Derek Cluse said in a news release "we have been in talks with Home Depot since early November, and are proud to announce this partnership."

Construction of the new building is scheduled to begin this spring on the grounds of the high school.

"We're committed to serving the community in which we live and work," said Dave Musen, regional vice president for Home Depot.

The Malson Athletic Center will contain locker rooms and a well-equipped training room.  The first level will house an athletic Hall of Fame, and an area designated to recognize project donors.  The second floor will consist of a community room that overlooks Memorial Stadium.

The athletic center is a $2 million dollar project, and fundraising is currently underway to raise a final $500,000 in order to obtain a matching grant from Hudson residents Dick and Barbara Malson.
