The Cuyahoga Valley National Park will close. A shutdown contingency plan calls for closing:
•?Gated trails and park areas will be closed and locked.
Roads through the park will be open.
Special events will be canceled. A Wednesday concert at the Happy Days Lodge will proceed. That venue was leased to a nonprofit group for the show.
Construction work at Virginia Kendall Area in Boston Township will proceed under a previously approved federal contract.
The Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center in Boston Township will be open. It will be staffed by Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park employees.
National Park Service staffers will be on furlough.
The park is encouraging visitors to explore other nonfederal areas along the Ohio & Erie Canalway, said spokeswoman Mary Pat Doorley.
Federal courts in northern Ohio could function for probably two weeks, based on fees and other funds collected.
Food banks could have less food to distribute, said Dan Flowers, chief executive of the Akron-Canton Foodbank.
The city of Akron is concerned about whether payments it receives from the IRS to help defray interest costs on its bonds could be delayed.
