HUDSON: Requests have come in from community members interested in renaming streets, and city council explored the issue at its workshop on Tuesday.

The residents have inquired about renaming streets to honor prominent, long-term residents of Hudson, who have had a substantial impact on the community, Council President David Basil said.

No current policy exists for such changes and council, with assistance from city staff, is in the process of formulating such a policy.

Several council members expressed concern over the difficulties involved with such renaming, particularly, the expenses incurred by residents and businesses located on a renamed street.

City Manager Anthony Bales said that he would take back all the input received at the workshop and formulate a policy, which will be considered at future workshops.

All requests for renaming have been placed on hold, including one to rename Franklin for well-known Hudson resident, Ada Miller Cooper.
