HUDSON: Hundreds gathered to break ground Thursday evening for the new Hudson Memorial Stadium.
The project will include a 3,000-seat home stand, a 2000-seat visitor stand, a synthetic playing surface, track, concession stands, and restrooms. It will be located on the site of the current high school track.
Principal donor Tom Murdough says that the Hudson Memorial Stadium is named “in memory and honor of those Hudson veterans who have served, and those who have given their lives in wars and conflicts throughout our history, that we and others might live in freedom.”
The Hudson City Schools Foundation has raised approximately $5.7 million in private funds for the $5.5 million stadium. Fundraising is ongoing for a field house to be added in a later phase.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid-August.
