The Jackson Local Schools Board of Education has announced that it will increase the pay for substitute custodians.  Custodians currently receive $8.50 per hour but will begin receiving $10 per hour with the increase, effective immediately.

The board also approved a resolution stating that they will put a renewal on the May 6 ballot in order for the 2009 emergency property tax levy to still be valid.  According to the board’s meeting minutes, Treasurer Linda Paris says that this levy will last five years and enable the school system to have access to $6.1 million annually. It is unclear whether or not property owners will see a tax increase.
