The students are back in session and Jackson Local School officials said school year is off to a great start.

Jackson High School principal Monica Myers said in a newsletter to parents this week the biggest issue facing the new school year is the dress code.

"Students were receiving dress code warnings during the first few days," she said. Myers reminds students and parents to review the dress code and call the school should they have any questions.

Myers also recommended that parents become a part of the Parent Advisory Council.

The purpose of this council is to inform parents on what’s going on at Jackson High School. The school officials also like to solicit ideas from parents and keep lines of communication open. Parents are invited to attend just one meeting or all meetings if they like. The first meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 in the high school main office conference room.

In other school news, all students will be off on Friday and Monday in observance of Labor Day.

Jackson Memorial Middle School open house will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. For more information on school events, please contact the high school at 330-837-3501.
