KENT:  The departing president of Kent Rotary was honored on Tuesday, according to the Record-Courier.

Dan Smith, who has led the group for over a year and is the city’s Economic Development Director, handed the reigns over to Dr. Joseph Giancola, superintendent of Kent schools.

Smith has been battling a serious illness for months, which has forced him to scale back his duties with the economic development department.  While he continues to lead major projects, treatments have taken their toll on the beloved city employee.
