The Kent City Schools Board of Education dealt with a number of personnel issues during its last meeting of 2012.

It appointed Amanda Metcalf to a 7-year term on the Kent Free Library Board and approved the retirements of Larry King, warehouse manager at the Christenson Building effective Jan 1, and Denise Craig, Intervention Specialist at Stanton Middle School on July 1, 2013.

In preparation for the new calendar year, the board also approved a contract for E-rate and phone audit services, approved new facility rental rates and revised 2013-2014 school calendar.

Travel plans were also on the agenda as trips for eight grade students (to Philadelphia and Gettysburg) and high school foreign-language club members (to Spain and France) were approved.

Dorsey was appointed President Pro-Temp and the board also accepted donations totaling $5,968, including a new flag and stand for the Roosevelt High School auditorium stage.

The next meeting will be Jan. 15, with an organizational meeting and budget hearing also being held the same night.
