NEW FRANKLIN

Fire damages garage

NEW FRANKLIN: A fire caused about $10,000 in damage to a garage and house Christmas morning in the 6100 block of Renninger Road, authorities said.

The occupants had evacuated the home and there were no injuries.

New Franklin firefighters responded to a call at 10:07 a.m. and found an attached two-car garage and attic space above the garage on fire. While the fire was contained to the garage, there was light smoke damage in the house.

Investigators determined that the fire was caused by hot materials discarded in a trash can next to the home.

Clinton firefighters assisted at the scene.
