The Portage County dive team was called in Thursday night to rescue a man stranded on an island in the Mogadore Reservoir.

The rescue, which ended with the man being taken to Cuyahoga Falls on an outstanding arrest warrant, prompted Brimfield Township police to post it on their Facebook page.

Police say the man and his friends decided to go for a swim. As one sergeant wrote, the man “swam and swam and swam his little heart out. He ended up on one of the small islands, stranded, almost naked and afraid.”

The dive team was called in to rescue the man, police said. His identification was checked and the warrant appeared.

“There are many things to learn from this adventure, but we will keep it focused. First, do not just take off swimming, in the dark, in a huge lake,” Chief David Oliver wrote. “Next: Go to court.”
