MEDINA: City police are relaunching their K-9 program, the Medina Gazette reports.

“It was important for our ability to do effective drug enforcement in the city,” Police Chief Ed Kinney told the newspaper.

The new dog is a German shepherd named Nero. Officer Mike Lyon will serve as his handler.

The K-9 program had been dormant for about eight years, the Medina Gazette said.
