WARREN, OHIO: A Northeast Ohio city has revoked the licenses of eight health spas in a prostitution crackdown.

The Warren health department board voted unanimously Wednesday to rescind the licenses.

The spas can reapply for licenses in one year.

The Warren Tribune Chronicle reports that an attorney for one spa disputes that a shutdown deal had been reached with the city and says he will fight it in court.

Mayor Doug Franklin plans to sign an order imposing a moratorium on licensing new massage parlors pending a ruling on Warren’s new spa ordinance.

Law-enforcement searches of the spas in May turned up used condoms and about $90,000 in cash. Authorities think some women working there, many Korean and poor English speakers, might have been working against their will.
