MILLERSBURG, OHIO: A Northeast Ohio prosecutor is set to give an update on the investigation into the death of a 15-year-old Amish girl who was shot while driving a horse-drawn buggy home from a Christmas party.
Rachel Yoder was shot in the head in December while traveling to her home in Wayne County. Authorities said her death appeared to be accidental.
The sheriff in nearby Holmes County has said a man cleaning his muzzle-loading rifle shot the gun into the air more than a mile from the girl. The horse carted the girl home, where her brother found her.
Holmes County Prosecutor Steve Knowling has been reviewing ballistics reports and information from investigators as he considered whether the case merited any charges. He was scheduled to give an update on Tuesday.
