CINCINNATI: Officials are celebrating the first camel birth at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden in nearly 30 years.

The zoo says a 3-year-old Bactrian camel named Saarai gave birth to a male calf on Monday as its father watched from a neighboring exhibit. The calf was trying to stand up less than an hour later.

The zoo says both mother and newborn are doing well, but they’re being kept off exhibit while they bond.

Zoo keepers want to name the newborn Cain, Lyn or Henry. They’re asking the public to help choose which name to use. People can vote for their favorite options at the zoo’s website until Monday. The zoo will announce the winning name Tuesday as it kicks off its annual Zoo Babies celebration.
