SPRINGFIELD, OHIO: A western Ohio woman says a stranger who came to her house and assaulted her later returned with a gas can and threatened to set her on fire.
Springfield resident Terrie Hawkins tells WHIO-TV in Dayton the man showed up at her house on Sunday trying to sell clothes and struck her in the head and legs.
Hawkins’ relatives and friends say they were shocked when the man later returned with a gas can and lighter and threw gasoline on Hawkins’ legs. She wasn’t hurt further.
The 57-year-old suspect was arrested Sunday and faces arson and assault charges. Police say they found the man, the gas can and a lighter.
He remained in jail Tuesday.
