TOLEDO: The 3,700-foot section of the Ottawa River that runs through the University of Toledo’s main campus has been restored.

The university celebrated completion this month of a project that began in 2009.

The effort involved clearing riverbanks, removing non-native invasive plants and building an access path.

This summer, large rocks, logs and other natural materials were added to the river to mimic natural water flow and add ripples to the water to diversify the aquatic habitat.
