AKRON: Firefighters responded to a rash of fires that started early Saturday morning and continued through Monday.

No injuries were reported in any of the fires, the first of which began at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday in a house at East Long and South Main streets.

At 4:47 a.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a blaze that started in the kitchen of an occupied home next door. There was $35,000 damage done to the structure, which was valued at $45,000.

Two hours later, firefighters responded to a house fire at 808 Beardsley St. Reports do not indicate if the home was occupied at the time of the fire.

Firefighters were sent to 1336 Harpster Ave. at 6:46 a.m. Monday and to 1324 Harpster Ave. at 8:10 a.m., where the property, with an estimated value of $30,000, was a total loss.

All the fires are currently being investigated.
