FAIRLAWN:  The Community Health Center in Akron is holding its 2nd annual Break the Cycle of Addiction: Empowering Women Luncheon on Sept. 26 from noon until 1:30 p.m at Fairlawn Country Club on N. Wheaton Road in Akron.



 



Headlining the event is guest speaker Deborah Jiang Stein, author of Even Tough Girls Wear Tutus: Inside the World of a Woman Born in Prison.  Stein is a writer and public speaker who devotes her work to women, men and children in the margins of society.



 



CHC provides crucial treatment to women and families struggling with substance abuse and addiction.  Through their Women’s Recovery Program, the organization helps pregnant women dealing with substance abuse rid themselves of drugs while carrying child.



 



The cost of the event is $30 per gust or $50 per gust plus sponsoring a woman in recovery.  Tables of eight are also available for $300, which includes a full table, signage and recognition in the program.
