BATH TWP.: The Revere Board of Education began its first meeting after the beginning of the 2012-13 school year with the announcement that Revere High School senior Donald Venus achieved a perfect ACT score of 36.
Venus, who took the test in April, is in rare company. According to the ACT website, less than 1 percent of the students who take the test annually score a perfect 36; in Ohio over the past two years, the number of graduating seniors taking the test has been more than 92,000 students.
With a current GPA of 4.1, Venus also finds time to be involved in a number of extracurricular activities, including band, Science Olympiad and Academic Challenge. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Chess Club and the Math Honor Society.
Venus said that his plans after graduation include college, most likely at The Ohio State University. He said he is leaning toward chemical engineering as his field of study.
Venus, of Richfield, attended the Aug. 28 board of education meeting with his proud parents, Don and Candi, who works at Revere Middle School as Principal Joe Niemantsverdrietís secretary.†
