MEDINA: The 36th annual Special Olympics Medina County Invitational will be held Saturday at Medina High School, 777 E. Union St.

The event will showcase more than 300 athletes with disabilities from Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark, Portage, Mahoning and Lorain counties who will compete in track and field events, powerlifting and bocce ball.

The opening ceremonies, which include a parade of athletes and a proclamation from Mayor Dennis Hanwell, will begin at 10:15 a.m.

The sporting events will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
